What is the Purpose of Constitutional Reform? What Need is Being
Addressed?
• To strengthen the nation by creating a more capable set of governing tools
• To lay a foundation for sustainable development
• Not only to support sovereignty but to exercise it more effectively
• To better serve the people’s needs
As a committee member your responsibilities will be to:
• Obtain community input and participation
• Organize culturally appropriate ways to consider issues, and organize
settings where citizens will feel comfortable talking
• Bring ideas, models, examples to the table
• Develop drafts of constitutional changes for feedback
• Organize referendum on final proposals
It is suggested that individuals who wish to apply should have experience
in the following areas:
• Reading
• Writing,
• Analyzing literature
• Have a thorough understanding of the culture.
**Anyone with a legal background would be beneficial for the effectiveness
of the group.
To begin, the committee will have monthly meetings. As the process nears
completion members will be required to meet on a regular basis. If you are
interested in participating it is very important that you commit to attending all
meetings. The committee will also be responsible for extensive community
outreach, which will consist of extensive community participation meetings.
