The Fifth Annual Red Lake Youth Leadership Conference will be held on April 5-8,
2010 at Red Lake High School in Red Lake Minnesota. The conference theme
this year is “THE NATION’S YOUTH: RED LAKE’S FUTURE”. Workshops and
presentations will be held from 8 AM until 3 PM each day. As usual, several things
will be happening simultaneously. In addition to the workshops, there is a youth
basketball tournament, entertainment, banquet, door prizes and an Honor the
Youth Pow-wow on the weekend.
Several schools in addition to Red Lake are expected to participate. Last year
included youth from Leech Lake, White Earth, the Bug School, Bemidji, Voyageurs
Charter, and other schools participated in the three days of activities.
This is the fifth year that the Red Lake Tribal Council, tribal programs and other
organizations have sponsored this great event for the youth of Red Lake Nation
and others A host of Red Lake member professionals, and well known guest
speakers from across Indian Country, will join together to share their knowledge in
leadership skills to motivate youth, and to promote native values, tradition, and
language.
