Domestic Violence Workshop Held for Red Lake

Domestic Violence 101 for the Red Lake Department of Public Safety was held on
Wednesday and Thursday, April 6-7, 2011, at the Red Lake Casino and Events
Center.
Funded by the Minnesota Office of Justice Programs, the workshop was
sponsored by Equay Wiigamig (Women’s Shelter) and training included new
domestic violence and sexual assault enforcement laws, defeating myths and
sterotypes, law enforcement DV initiatives, understanding the “Y’s”, and batterer’s
re-education.
The workshop also included the Red Lake High School Project Preserve film, “My
3 Friends”, and a presentation by Ron Teel on standing up for all.
Other presenters included Michelle Johnson, Stephanie Cobenais, Geoff Pierre,
Shari Smith and Todd Smith.
