Erickson Tabbed For 2011 Youth Tour
Beltrami Electric has selected Bemidji High School’s Levi Erickson as the
cooperative’s representative for the 2011 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour, where
he will join hundreds of high school students representing their cooperatives on an
all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., June 11-16, 2011. This journey is a part
of an annual Youth Tour sponsored by the National Rural Electric Cooperative
Association, the Minnesota Rural Electric Association and Beltrami Electric
Cooperative.
Mr. Erickson is an exceptional student, earning a GPA of 4.137 in his tenure at
BHS. He has spent five summers at Concordia Language Village studying
Japanese and is a two-time academic letter winner. He has excelled in AP English
and Composition, earning a high mark on the AP Exam. In addition, he has a
strong interest in our government and how it works, which ties in well to his AP US
Government and Politics course. Levi has also participated in track and field and
was a member of the Bemidji Youth Symphony Orchestra.
The tour includes visits to many of the National Mall memorials. Representatives
will also spend a day on “The Hill” meeting with legislators and witnessing the day-
to-day operations of the federal legislature. Levi was selected based on his strong
educational background and community involvements, qualities that Beltrami
Electric Cooperative believes are important in our future community leaders.
Levi is the son of Torrey and Barbara Erickson, Bemidji, Minn.
