MIGA Jobs Rally set for Tuesday, April 26 at the
Minnesota Capital
Memorandum
To: All Tribal Leaders, Casino Managers
From: John McCarthy, Executive Director
CC: None
Date: 4/21/2011
Re: MIGA Rally/State Capitol
The plans for the MIGA Jobs Rally are coming together nicely. We have secured
both the Rotunda area and the Mall space so we have some alternative in the
event of inclement weather. We know that we can’t get everyone inside, but we
can accommodate some.
The equipment has all been scheduled and we are getting great response from all
the Tribes regarding bussing people in.
By the end of the week I hope to have an event map showing how everything will
be set up (stage, sound system, water stations, supply tents etc.) and the
directions for the busses when they arrive at the Capitol. As soon as this is
available I will get it out to everyone.
I am requesting some information from each Tribe that will help us to make the
event run more efficiently and save everyone some time. Our plan is to have each
Tribe designate an individual as your Tribes coordinator and ask that individual to
contact me so we can exchange contact information. Once I have the contacts I
plan to set up a regular update network between the rally planners and the Tribal
coordinators. As plans are finalized I will notify all parties and keep everyone
informed right up until the event on Tuesday. I am also asking that each Tribe
provide cell phone numbers for at least one lead employee on every bus. This will
give us the advantage of direct contact with the busses as they approach the State
Capitol. If we have any last minute changes or if the busses need direction we can
provide it. We can also identify the various shirt seizes for each buss and get
them ready before they arrive.
Of course the biggest unknown is the weather, which we have no control of. We
are recommending that everyone who is planning to attend come prepared for
whatever weather we end up with.
Umbrella’s, raingear, warm coats or jackets, hats and sweatshirts should be
considered and recommended for all. Unfortunately we can’t provide these items
so we advise that you remind all of your staffs that they need to come prepared.
We are asking everyone to plan your trip so that people will be on the ground and
in place by 1:00 PM when the rally is scheduled to start. We will not have any
seating for rally folks so they can expect to be standing for at least an hour and a
half, as we don’t expect the event to run much past 2:30 PM.
As soon as we have a final layout of the planned set up I will send it out to all.

In closing let me thank everyone for your help with this event. We are grateful to
everyone for his or her commitment of both time and money. We can also use
more volunteers so if you have people who want to help please let me know and I
will work out the details with you.
Thanks again and we look forward to seeing everyone at 1:00 PM on Tuesday,
April 26th, at the state Capitol.

2. I DON’T WANT TO LOSE MY JOB TO A RACINO THAT MAY PAY
LESS AND OFFER INADEQUATE BENEFITS.

excellent benefits that my casino job provides.
• After many years in my tribal job, I don’t want to have to start over as

3. MY JOB IS IMPORTANT TO OUR STATE AND COUNTY’S ECONOMIC
