RBEGs fund a broad array of activities that support the development of small and emerging private businesses in rural areas. Grants typically range from $10,000 to $500,000. This person will also assist the Director of Student Services with the admissions and registration process. Reports to: Director of Student Services % of Time Spent on these Job Tasks Job Tasks 30% 1.) Coordinate and lead the recruitment of students to the RLNC. Attend high schools and College fairs to represent the RLNC. Speak to individual high school students and groups of high school students to encourage them to attend our school. Attend Red Lake Community events with our RLNC table and materials. Promote and market the RLNC when students visit to inquire about attending. Work with other Red Lake Programs such as New Beginnings to coordinate the recruitment of adults returning to college. Increasing our college enrollment will be the number one purpose of this position. Recruiting and representing the RLNC must be done in a manner that is respectful, positive and helpful to the prospective students. 30% 2.) Coordinate and lead the efforts at retaining students at the RLNC. Work with the Director of Student Services and faculty to identify students who are having academic or attendance difficulties. Then, do whatever it takes to assist them to remain in school. This will include helping them problem solve academic challenges, transportation, child care, financial or any other issues that prevent them from being successful in school. This part of the position will involve creative problem solving and hands-on follow through. Assist students in meeting with tutors or helping them plan for the completion of assignments will also be required. Keeping students in school and helping prevent them from dropping out will be the second main priorities of this position. 30% 3.) Assist with the admissions and registration process. Essential Responsibilities & Duties: • Provide intensive job placement counseling to eligible participants ensuring access to employment opportunities, job development, financial assistance, training and other social programs that will ensure that participants are placed on the most direct path to unsubsidized employment. • Promoting work first, conduct immediate and in-depth assessments of employment history, job skills, transferable skills, entry level and advanced abilities, training and education of the eligible participants • Work closely with recipients to set goals, steps, tasks and time lines to develop and execute a written plan/contract between the 477 program and participants. To achieve permanent, full time employment is the goal. • Coordinate and monitor employment plan/contracts to insure that the participants are receiving necessary and timely assistance. Verify that the job specific training is directly related to employment and relevant to the local labor market and employer needs. • Provide ongoing in person weekly contact with participant to monitor individual progress and compliance with employment and/or job search plan/contracts. Includes on-going maintenance of case notes, plan/contract renegotiations and updates. • Maintain files and complete all paperwork to insure compliance with state and federal requirements and to insure due process. Will also be required to maintain appropriate information releases by the Data Privacy Act. • Promotes and develops and employment and on-the-job training opportunities for applicants. Establishes relationships with employers regarding problems, complaints, and progress of recently placed applicants and recommends corrective action. • Promotes, develops and terminates on-the-job training program opportunities with employers and assists in writing contracts. Identifies need for and assists in the development of auxiliary services to facilitate bringing disadvantaged applicant into job-ready status. Informs business, labor, and the public about training programs through various media. Will instruct applicants in resume writing, job search and interviewing techniques. Will work closely with employers on and off the Red Lake Reservation. • Will monitor and assist in the progress of each New Beginnings consumer that is currently working on attaining a GED/High School Diploma. • Will serve as a professional representative of NEW BEGINNINGS and the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians. • Work cooperatively with county human services in the referral process of public assistance recipients, especially those identified as mandatory and eligible MFIP participants. | Request For Qualifications Chief Bemidji Statue Project The City of Bemidji, MN is seeking to commission a permanent statue of exceptional quality of Chief Bemidji to be placed in a public park overlooking Lake Bemidji. Chief Bemidji, whose Ojibwe name was Shaynowishkung, greeted the immigrants that settled in Bemidji and was highly respected by the Anishinaabe people and white settlers alike. The City wishes to commission a new representation of Chief Bemidji that would depict him in a realistic, dignified and respectful way, honoring the man and his legacy. The statue project is open to artists, or artist teams, age 18 and over, who can demonstrate their knowledge of, and experience with Anishinaabe culture and history.
