Allen Kingbird, Jr., 76, of Ponemah, died Friday, April 2, 2010, at the
Jourdain/Perpich Extended Care Center in Red Lake.

Traditional Indian Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, at the Ponemah
Community Center with Spiritual Leader Steve Jackson officiating. A wake
will begin today, April 4, at the Ponemah Community Center and will continue
until the services. Burial will be in the Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah.

Pallbearers will be Earl Fairbanks, Lyman Kingbird, Wilbert Stillday, Dale
Kingbird, Harlan Kingbird, Jr., Donald Whitefeather, Melvin Owens, Jr., Gary
Greenleaf, Landon Kingbird and Darryl Stillday.

Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Porter, Russell Kingbird II and Joseph
Kingbird.

The Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted with the
arrangements.

He was born on Feb. 6, 1934, to Allen, Sr. and Mary (Mosher) Kingbird of
Ponemah. He was raised and educated in Ponemah. He married Bertha
Stillday in 1953 in Ponemah.

He served in the U. S. Army in Korea during the Korean War and honorably
discharged as a sergeant. He returned home and worked as a fisherman and
as a carpenter for Red Lake Builders. He enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting
and traditional dancing at Pow-Wows.

He is survived by sons, Dale Kingbird, Darwin Kingbird, Richard (Lisa)
Kingbird and Russell (Jody) Kingbird I; daughters, Bonita (Donald) Kingbird
and Ada (Louis) Kingbird; sister, Margaret (Russell) Porter; 17 grandchildren;
14 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; daughter, Vera Kingbird;
brothers, Delbert, Eddie, Calvin, Kenneth, Bruce, Dan and James Kingbird;
sisters, Lorraine, Lucille and Florence; one grandson; and grand-daughters.
