Arlyn “Sam” James Stately Sr., 65, of Red Lake, MN, died Tuesday, July 13,
2010 at his home in Red Lake.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Monday, July 19, 2010 at the St. Mary’s
Mission Catholic Church in Red Lake, MN with Father Jerry Rogers officiating.
A wake will begin at 11:00am, Saturday, July 17, 2009, at the Red Lake
Community Center in Red Lake, and will continue until the service at the
church. Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Mission Catholic Cemetery in Red
Lake, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
He was born on February 5, 1945, in Red Lake, MN, the son of Albert Stately
Sr. and Leona Maxwell. He was raised by his mother Leona Stately and Frank
Stately Sr. He grew up and attended school in Red Lake. As a young man he
traveled a lot, and saw the country along with his friends, moving from town to
town. He settled down in Spokane, WA for many years, and was married while
he was there. He worked as a furniture upholster, and later as a chemical
dependency counselor at the Indian Center in Spokane. He moved back to
Red Lake in 1996, and worked in the Security department of the River Road
Casino in Thief River Falls, MN. He enjoyed pow-wows, traveling, storytelling,
going for rides, spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by: Children, Lisa Stately of Warroad, MN Arlyn Stately Jr. of
Red Lake, Brandon Stately of Red Lake, Cherai Stately of Red Lake, Dawn
Naslund of Grand Rapids, MN Richard Howard of Redby, MN Step-Children,
Allison Cook of Red Lake, Michael Cook of Red Lake, Frank Stately III of Red
Lake, Brothers, Darrell Stately of Red Lake, MN Talon Wildwood of St. Peter,
MN, George Stately of Minneapolis, MN Sister, LaVonne (Anthony) Infante of
Red Lake, 13 Grandchildren, and 4 Great-Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his his parents, 5 brothers, and 5 sisters.
Active Casketbearers will be: Arlyn Stately Jr., Darrell Stately, Anthony Infante,
Roger Greene, Adrian Stately, and Michael J. Stately.
Honorary Casketbearers will be: Gerald Blue Sr., James Drouillard Sr.,
Jordan Thompson, Brandon Stately, Cherai Stately, Eric Neadeau Jr., Jerick
Neadeau, Mason Bullhead, Arnold Stately, Becky Cook, Orland Spears, and
Richard Howard.
