Bruce Allen “Denny” Graves, 57, of Ponemah, died Thursday, April 29, 2010,
in Red Lake.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 3, at the Ponemah
Community Center in Ponemah with the Rev. David Hayes officiating. A wake
will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the Ponemah Community Center and
will continue until the time of the service. Burial will be in the St. John’s
Episcopal Cemetery in Red Lake.
Arrangements are with Cease Funeral Home, Blackduck.
The urn bearer will be Harold Raincloud.
Honorary pallbearers will be his family and friends.
He was born Feb. 4, 1953, to Joseph C. and Genevive D. (Downwind) Graves
in Red Lake. He attended schools in Ponemah, Minneapolis and Red Lake.
He then spent two years studying auto mechanics at Bemidji Vo-Tech. He
spent one year studying to become an electrician at Redby Vo-Tech. As a
young man, he helped his father logging. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in
1970, and was honorably discharged as a Specialist First Class in 1972. In
Minneapolis, he worked at the Pillsbury Flour Company as a forklift operator.
He most recently worked as a security guard at the Red Lake Casino and
Bingo. He enjoyed watching All-Star wrestling, watching his grandchildren
dance and spending time with his friends. He attended the PTL Church in
Redby.
He is survived by his special friend, Pricilla Iceman of Ponemah; a son,
Lindsay (Deshanna) Iceman of Red Lake; two grandchildren; a step-son,
Darwin Iceman of Ponemah; brothers, Vincent A. (Donna) Graves and Jerome
A. Graves, both of Ponemah; a sister, Helen L. Elk of Minneapolis; two special
nieces; his god parents and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roger A. Graves and
Harold W. Graves and sisters, Josephine E. Cloud and Priscilla Graves.
