Dale “Woodduck” Brunette Sr., 57, of Cass Lake, died Sunday, Jan. 17,
2010, at the North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at the St. Peter’s
Episcopal Church in Cass Lake with the Rev. Harold Eaglebull, the Rev. John
Rock and Shannon Avery officiating. A wake will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday,
Jan. 21, at the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Cass Lake and continue until
the time of service. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake,
under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
The pallbearers will be Ronald Jacobs, Terry Jones, Neal Ortiz, Bradley
Reuter, Frank Raisch Jr., Silas Blue Jr. and alternate, Tony Oehler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred “Ko-Ko” Folstrom, Luther Swanson, Joann
(Jody) Bellanger, Joey Kingbird, Fred Jackson and Gloria Wilson.
He was born July 6, 1952, to LeRoy Brunette and Venita Saul in Walker. He
was raised and educated in Cass Lake and Forks, Wash., graduating from
the Cass Lake High School. He worked in the outdoors gathering pine cones,
ricing, and mostly logging. He worked as a custodian for the Cass Lake
School District, and later for the Cass Lake IHS Hospital. He served as a
baseball coach for Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball. He was an
outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and trapping. He enjoyed going to the
casino, loved spending time with his grandchildren and his dog.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin (Charles) Brunette; sons, Dale (Angela)
Brunette and LeRoy (April) Brunette; sisters, Kathy Molash, Debbie Fackrell
and Barbie Steffner; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents and three uncles.
