Dana Louise Smith (Miskwadiinekwe which means Little Red Turtle Woman),
37of Red Lake, MN died on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at her home.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 am on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Red Lake, MN with officiating. A wake will begin on
Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Red Lake Center in Red Lake and continue
until the time of service. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Red Lake
under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
Dana was born August 18, 1972 in Two Harbors, MN the daughter of Victor
and Delores (Roberts) Mostrom. She lived in Schroeder, MN until she was 5
years old, then moved with her family to Red Lake where she has resided all
her life. She attended Red Lake Elementary and graduated from Red Lake
High School in 1990. She worked for the Red Lake School District for 12
years from 1998 – present. She married Charles J. Smith May 14, 2003 in
Red Lake, MN. She enjoyed shopping, gambling and spending time with her
family and friends.
She is survived by her husband: Charles Smith Children: Victoria (Simon)
Stately Dion Barrett Stepchildren: Earl Smith, Heather Smith, Angel Smith and
Nick Sumner mother: Delores Mostrom Stepfather: Edward Lussier, Jr. 4
sisters: Sharon (Ronald) Kingbird Vicki Mostrom Kelly (Virgil, Sr.) Skinaway
Geraldine (Jerry) Samuelson Special aunt: Geraldine Richardson Brother-in-
law: Todd (Sheri) Smith 2 special nieces: Michelle and Alyss Mountain 9
grandchildren And numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins
She was preceded in death by her father Victor Mostrom, brother Vernon
Mostrom, all grandparents and great grandparents, numerous nephews,
nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Honorary Casketbearers will be the Red Lake Elementary and Kindergarten
staff.
Active Casketbearers will be J.R. Defoe Caldwell, Rhonda Garrigan, Shannon
Rainey, Annie Neadeau, Dawn Pankow and Valencia Jones.
