Deborah “Deb Ann” Ann Folstrom, 55, of Cass Lake, died Monday, June 14,
2010, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at the St. Peter’s
Episcopal Church in Cass Lake with the Rev. John Rock officiating. A wake
will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, June 18, at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in
Cass Lake and will continue until the time of the service. Burial will be in the
Thompson Family Cemetery in Cass Lake, under the direction of the Cease
Family Funeral Home of Cass Lake.
The pallbearers will be Tony Hare, Robert Mesabi, Glen “Tuffy” Fisher, Kirby
Finn, Michael Staples and Robert “Punk” Pemberton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wally Rea, Patsy Kay Fisher, Janie Fisher,
Laurie Sargent, Dallas Sargent and Lisa Monroe.
She was born on April 17, 1955, to Wellington “Wimpy” Harper and Patricia
Tibbetts, in Cass Lake. She was raised and educated in Cass Lake, until her
step-father Harvey Howard took a job in Norwalk, Calif., and her family moved
there. She graduated from high school and after taking some acting classes,
appeared in minor parts in a movie and on television. She moved back to
Cass Lake in 1974. She married Orlean Folstrom and together they had two
children. They were later divorced. She held numerous jobs in the Cass Lake
area. Her passion was the outdoors and that led her to study biology at the
Leech Lake Tribal College. She went on to work in that field with the Leech
Lake Department of Natural Resources tracking migratory birds. She also
worked as a dispatcher for the Leech Lake Police Department. She enjoyed
fishing, doing puzzles, playing dice with friends and spending time with family.
She has spent the last 25 years with her special friend, Tom Hare.
She is survived by her daughter, Irene Folstrom of Bemidji, son, Ed Folstrom
of Savage; brothers, Marlin Harper of Bemidji and Derrick Harper of Cass
Lake; sister, Sharlene Harper of Cass Lake; her father; three grandchildren;
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother; her step-father, Harvey Howard
and brother, Colin Harper.
