Delores “Dee” Sullivan, 81, of Crookston, Minnesota, died Sunday afternoon,
August 22, 2010, in the Riverview Hospital in Crookston. Dee was born on
March 12, 1929 at Red Lake Falls, Minnesota, the daughter of William and
Marie (LaCrosse) Marleau.  She grew up in Red Lake Falls, was baptized
and confirmed at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and graduated from Lafayette
High School in 1947.  As a young lady Dee was employed at a local jewelry
shop and later worked at Minnesota Dairy, the Northern Propane Company,
and also painted color washes on old time black and white photographs for
regional photographers. On August 26, 1948, she was united in marriage to
William Patrick “Bill” Sullivan at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.  The couple
made their home in Grand Forks for three years before moving to Hallock,
Minnesota, and then to Crookston in1955. For several years Dee was
employed as a realtor for Emerson Real Estate. She was an avid golfer and
instructor and won city championships at Crookston’s Minakwa Country Club
in 1958, 1959 and 1960.  Dee was very involved in the community and
belonged to the Matron Club, Ken Study Club, and the Bridge Club. She was
a long-time active member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception
parish, served as a lector, and was a lay director of the Crookston Cursillo
and Charismatic Renewal.  Sadly, Bill passed away on March 9, 2004.  Dee’s
memory will be cherished by all who were part of her life.

Loving family members include two sons and a daughter-in-law, The Reverend
Patrick Sullivan of Dillworth, MN, and Bill and Pam Sullivan of Crookston, MN;
and three grandchildren, Peter and Ben Sullivan and Josh Ogaard. Dee also
leaves ten sisters, Gen Sherry of Tracy, CA, Fran (Bob) Snyder of Lake
Forest, CA, Lois Jonston of Beverly Hills, CA, Terry (Stan) Larson of
Bloomington, MN, LouAnn (Rich) Anderson of Crookston, and Lynn (Tom)
Cashman of Mankato, MN; her sisters-in-law, Barbara Marleau of San Jose,
CA, Donna (Fritz) Menard of Crookston, Emmy Sullivan of Minneapolis, MN,
Joyce Sullivan of Crookston, and Marge Sullivan of Minneapolis; and many
nieces, nephews, and other relatives.  In addition to her husband, Bill, Dee
was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie Marleau; sister,
Millie; and two brothers, Duane and Hugh “Dick” Marleau.   

The funeral service for Delores “Dee” Sullivan will be at the Cathedral of the
Immaculate Conception in Crookston, MN, at 3:00 pm, on Thursday, August
26, 2010.  Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday from 5-7:00 pm, with
a 7:00 pm prayer service, and also for an hour before the funeral.  Interment
will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Crookston.  Arrangements are with the
Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home.
