Donald “Duckman” James White, 29, of Ponemah, died Saturday, Feb. 13,
2010, at Red Lake PHS Hospital in Red Lake.
Traditional funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, at the
Ponemah Community Center in Ponemah. A wake will begin this evening,
Feb. 19, at the Ponemah Community Center and continue until the time of the
service. Burial will be at the Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah under the
direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
Pallbearers will be Arlie Wipf, Gary Lee Maxwell, Corey Wipf, Brian Brun Sr.,
Randall White Sr., Elbert White Jr., Michael Iceman Sr., and Chris Maxwell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Iceman Jr., Matthew White Sr., Lowery
Stillday Sr., Randall Jones Jr., Lindsey Iceman, Melvin Kingbird Jr., Elbert
White Sr., Perry White Jr., Julius Maxwell Sr., Lorenzo White and Nick Spears.
He was born Sept. 17, 1980, Priscilla T. White and Donald Maxwell in Red
Lake. He attended the Ponemah Elementary School until he moved to
Bemidji. He attended the J.W. Smith Elementary School, and the Bemidji
Middle School then went on to attend the Red Lake High School. He worked
as a life guard at the Seven Clans Casino Water Park in Thief River Falls,
Minn. He enjoyed spending time with his children, family and friends. He also
enjoyed playing basketball, Texas Hold’em, and was a Red Lake Warriors fan.
He is survived by his sons, Donald J. White Jr. of Ponemah, Simon Jay
Desjarlait of Red Lake and Dezmond S. Desjarlait of Red Lake; daughter,
Jerdon R. Whitefeather White of Ponemah; special friend, Hope Demarrias of
Red Lake,; sisters, Judith Maxwell of Ponemah, LeeAnn White of Ponemah
and Becky White of Ponemah; brother, Leroy White Jr. of Ponemah, step-
father, Leroy White Sr. of Ponemah; mother, Virginia Spears of Ponemah;
and grandmother, Audrey White of Ponemah.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; brother, Douglas
White; sisters, Shirley White and Kimberly White; and several nieces,
nephews, uncles and aunts.
