Eldora Malone, age 59, of Redby, Minn. died, Saturday, July 25, 2010 at the
North Country Regional Hospital, Bemidji, Minn.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 30, at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church, Red Lake with the Rev. Jerry Rogers officiating. Visitation
will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, July 29, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at
the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji. Burial will be in St. Mary’s
Catholic Cemetery, Red Lake.
Honorary casket bearers Kathy Dudley, Sharon L. Lussier, Carrianne Spears,
Cindy Pemberton, Amanda Walton, Joan Nelson.
Casket bearers will be Clarence Spears, Donovan English, Gary English,
Peter English, Jr., Dana Lyons, Jr., Tyson Nelson, Sean English, Juan Lopez,
III.
Eldora Elaine English was born September 13, 1950 in Red Lake, Minn. She
attended schools at St. Mary’s Mission, Red Lake high School and graduated
from St. Paul’s High School, Marty, S.D. After her high school graduation she
moved to California and made her residence there until 1994. While in
California she worked for the Bank of America in San Francisco, the
University of Berkeley, in the departments of Zoology, Biology and lastly the
Native American Indian Studies. On July 2, 1982 she married Robert B.
Malone in Reno, Nev. With the passing of her mother, Mary Jane, she moved
back home to be close to her family in November 1994. She worked for Red
Lake Gaming in Human Resources and lastly for the band as the director of
Human Resources. She loved reading books, traveling cross country with her
husband, Robert, cooking for her family and friends, watching her favorite
soap opera “All My children,” and watching nature movies. She enjoyed
playing bingo and going to the casinos. She was a strong person, with a good
heart and she loved her people. She was a person you could come to and
confide in. She was always there to listen and was not afraid to tell you how
she felt. She held her brother Donovan dear to her heart. She was the center
of our family.
She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Malone; daughter, Lori K. Malone;
stepchildren, Yvette Jackson, Michelle Jackson, Derryl Malone and Eric
Malone; father, Peter English; siblings, Wanda L. Lyons, Donovan P. English,
Gary D. English, Shelley Ann English and Peter D. English, Jr.; in-laws, Albert
Malone, Jessie Thomas, Bessie Rodgers, Barbara Thomas and Josie
Johnson; many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jane English; sister, Pamela
Kay English and a very special brother-in-law, Wayne Malone.
