Evelyn Marie Thompson, whose name is Wabigun Nibi, which means Flower
on the Water, 69, of Cass Lake, died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at St. Mary’s
Hospital in Duluth.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at the Veterans
Memorial Building in Cass Lake with the Rev. Harold Eaglebull and the Rev.
John Rock officiating. A wake will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 8, at the
Veterans Memorial Building and will continue until the time of service. Burial
will be in the Goodman Family Cemetery.

The Dennis Funeral Home of Cass Lake assisted the family with the funeral
arrangements.

She was born July 9, 1940, to Clarence and Louise (Johnson) Clark Sr. in
White Earth, Minn. She grew up in the Pine Point area and attended school in
Park Rapids. She lived in Minneapolis for thirty years before moving to Cass
Lake, where she has resided since. She raised three grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. She also worked at a day care center in Cass Lake. She
enjoyed going to the casino, attending pow wow’s, dancing and playing 20/20
bingo. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, Duane Clark, Charles Staples III, Cheryl
Staples and David Staples, 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; sisters,
Diane, Cleo, Bernice, Babe, MaryLou, Edith, Barb, Betsy, Missy and Joann;
brothers, Douglas, Clarence Jr.; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer; brother, John;
son, Ronald “Moose”; and a great grandson.
