Irvine Franks, 59, of Lake George, died Thursday, Sept. 2, at the Neilson
Place in Bemidji.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, at the Cease Family Funeral
Home in Bemidji with the Rev. Wendy Todd officiating. Visitation was held at
6-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral
home. A memorial service and interment will be held in Wahta, Ontario, at a
later date.

He was born on July 1, 1951, to Mitchell and Grace (Beauvais) Franks. He
was raised and educated in Wahta Mohawk Territory, Ontario. He graduated
from Gravenhurst High School and attended Georgian College and the
University of Alaska-Fairbanks. He worked for many years and in 2005 began
working with the chronically mentally ill. Over the years, he lived in Myrtle
Beach, S.C., Sand Point, Alaska, Nome, Alaska and North Pole, Alaska. He
married Jane Willitts on Oct. 18, 1986, in Wahta, Ontario. In 2008, they moved
to Lake George. He enjoyed fishing, going to powwows, hockey games,
boxing, being with his dogs, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, of Lake George; mother, of Wahta, Ontario;
siblings, Philip (Sandra) Franks, Ellen (Guy Simmons) Franks, Carol (Bart)
Holmes; step-daughter, Melanie (Mike) McNally; two sisters-in-law; his
brother-in-law; his mother-in-law; and 10 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father; father-in-law; and brother, Peter
Franks.
