Julius “Sonny” Webster, Jr., 73 of White Earth, MN. died on Saturday,
February 6, 2010 at St. Mary’s Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.
A wake will start on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the Redby Community
Center, and continue until Thursday. Interment will be at the Ft. Snelling
National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
He was born on April 10, 1936 in Red Lake, MN. to Julius Sr. and Evanell
(Jackson) Webster.
He was raised in Red Lake as a young boy for many years, going to school in
White Earth, Waubun and Minneapolis. He served in the United State Navy
from 1958-1962, after which he attended the Minnesota Technical College for
welding and the University of Minnesota. He worked for the U.S. Postal
Service in Minneapolis and retired after 16 years there. He enjoyed reading,
going to the casinos, listening to music, going to pow wows, and loved to hunt
and fish.
He is survived by 1 sister, Myrna Smith of White Earth; 1 son, Gary (Cynthia
Lussier) Stately of Red Lake; 3 daughters, Melanie “Eppy” (Lee English)
Stately of Minneapolis, Karen Floan of Bemidji, and Mary Billharz of South
Dakota; 9 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, a sister, Peggy, a brother Donald,
a son, Julius III, his daughter Rhoda Stately, granddaughter Justine Stately,
and a niece Margaret Webster.
Active casketbearers will be Michael Hegstrom Sr., Julius Stately Sr., Myron
Clark, Martin Clark, Ryan Stately, Robert “Hud” Webster, Lee English and
Arlen Barrett.
Honorary casketbearers will be Roger Neadeau, Pete Neadeau, Vernon
Clark Sr., Frances Clark, Maurice Clark, Sam Webster, Tom Lankton and
Roman “Ducker” Stately.
