Maurice “Bubba” Otto Stately, whose name is Mamadwedang, which means
Rumbling Sky, 51, of Red Lake, died Sunday, June 6, 2010, in Red Lake.

Traditional funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 12, at the Little
Rock Center in Red Lake with Greg Kingbird officiating. A wake will begin at
4 p.m. today, June 10, at the Little Rock Center and will continue until the time
of the services. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake, under
the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

The pallbearers will be Ralph Cloud, Brad Johnson, Don Knutson, Corey
Stately, Raymond Drouillard, Theodore Graves, Dillon Stately, Tyrone Thunder
and alternate Albert Stately.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Johnson Jr., Dale Augestine, Darwin
Stately, Vern Sargent, Charlie Norris, Golden Eagle Stately, Antasia Stately,
Robin John Roy, Roxanne Roberts, Rain Stately and Cyrus King.

He was born April 8, 1959, the son of Leonard Stately, Sr. and Vivian Thunder-
Stately, in Red Lake. He attended Red Lake Elementary and Red Lake High
School. He lived in Red Lake all of his life. He married Denise Roberts August
19, 1989. He was a commercial fisherman for more than 30 years. He was an
avid outdoorsman. He was always willing to help people. He enjoyed
spending time with his family and loved his traditional ways.

He is survived by wife, Denise Roberts Stately; children, Floyd (Suzee)
Iceman, Shalaina Stately and Shateasha Stately; mother, Vivian Stately;
brothers and sisters, Marlene (John Well) Stately, Gary (Phyllis) Thunder,
Leonard (Robyn) Stately Jr., Bruce Stately, Tina Stately, Guy (Diane) Stately
Sr., Theodore (Flora) Graves, Angela (Elias Becerra) Stately-Hernandez,
Robin (Ramona Sumner) John Roy, Keith (Jackie) Defoe, Diane Roy and
Gordon (Marlys) Johnson and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Stately Sr.; son, Brandon
Cobenais; daughters, Shantelle and Sheena Roberts; brother, David Stately
and three grandchildren.
