Michael Paul Jourdain, Niio-bines – Four Feathers, 40, of Bemidji, died Friday, March 12, 2010, in Bemidji.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Lake with the Rev. James Chalangady officiating. A wake will begin at noon Tuesday, March 16, at the Little Rock Center in Red Lake and continue until the time of service Wednesday. Burial will be at the St. John’s Episcopal Cemetery in Red Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Johnson, Doug Colhoff, Russ Andree, Tim Andree, Tuffy Fisher, Tony Nichols and Clem May.
Active pallbearers will be his nephews and brothers.
He was born October 1, 1969, to Roger P. Jourdain and Audrey J. Lussier in Red Lake. He attended St. Mary’s Mission School at Red Lake, Bemidji Middle School, Bemidji High School and the Music Tech School in Minneapolis. He worked for Seven Clans Casino in Thief River Falls and had also done some carpentry work. He was an accomplished musician and played lead guitar with many local bands. He played and enjoyed all styles of music. He could play many different instruments and was a composer and songwriter. He was an avid reader, artist and sports fan. He loved attending powwows and spending time with his family and friends. His traditional native culture was dear to his heart and as a young boy he loved dancing at powwows.
He is survived by his parents; brothers, Randall (Shelley) Jourdain of Bemidji and, Joey, David and Tim Lajeunesse, all of Red Lake; sisters, Mary Beth (Tuffy) Jourdain of Bemidji, Paula Jourdain of Bemidji, Laura Lajeunesse of Red Lake; many nieces, nephews, aunts and an uncle.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roger A. and Margaret E. Jourdain and Charles W. and Jane S. Lussier.
