Paul Henry “B.B.” Perkins, 85, of Red Lake, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at Red
Lake Indian Health Service Hospital in Red Lake.
Traditional Indian Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, in the Ponemah
Community Center with spiritual leader Greg Kingbird officiating. A wake will
begin today, Oct. 10, at the Ponemah Community Center and will continue until the
time of the service. Burial will be in the Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah.
Pallbearers will be Darren Perkins, Dwight Perkins, Robert Johnson Jr., Darnell
Perkins, Kirby Perkins and Clyde Perkins III.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his caregivers from the Jourdain-Perpich Extended
Care Facility in Red Lake.
Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck assisted the family with arrangements.
He was born Jan. 29, 1925, in Ponemah to Barney Perkins and Bessie Hudson.
He attended school in Ponemah and lived in there most of his life. He resided at
the Jourdain-Perpich Extended Care Facility for the last 11 years. He was a logger
and a fisherman, enjoyed playing cards and Bingo, and visiting with friends and
family.
He is survived by two nieces, both of Ponemah; three nephews, all of Ponemah;
numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-
grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Sarah Johnson, Delma
Kingbird and Lottie Perkins; brother, Clyde Perkins Sr. and a special friend, Gloria
Perkins.
