Peggy Lynn Smith, “mashkwijiwan” which means Strong Whirlpool, 48, of Bemidji,
MN entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Havenwood
Care Center in Bemidji, MN with her family by her side. She was born January
10th, 1962 in Cass Lake, MN to Phillip and Clara Smith.
Peggy’s favorite pastimes were spending time outdoors, gardening, fishing and
riding around listening to music with her life partner Mike Porter. She also loved
watching TV especially the E! channel. Her favorite shows were, Kendra, Keeping
up with the Kardashians and family guy. She enjoyed shopping especially at
garage sales.
Most of all she loved spending time with her five grandchildren, Jerzi, Julea ,
Jiselle, Ohiya and Aiyanna, doing crafts and teaching them our old traditional ways.
She was preceded in death by the father of her four children, Edgar “Duane”
Archambault Jr, her father Phillip Smith sr., son Edgar Duane Archambault III,
brother Phillip Smith Jr, sisters Wanda and Rebecca Smith.
Peggy is survived by her mother Clara Smith of Bena, her life partner Mike Porter
of Bemidji, daughters Rebecca Smith of Bemidji, Heather Smith of Mpls, Clarice
Archambault of Bena, brothers Michael Smith of St Cloud, Darwin Jones of Mpls,
Gary Smith of Bemidji, sisters Roonie Kingbird of Cass Lake, Jackie Sam of
Mpls, Bonita Desjarlais of Bena, Ruth Anne Smith of Bena, Thelma Smith of Cass
Lake, numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
All night wake began Friday, November 19th at 6pm at The Veterans Memorial
Building in Cass Lake , MN
Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 20 at 10:00 A.M. at St Peter’s
Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at The Prince of Peace Cemetery in Cass
Lake, MN.
Pallbearers: Phillip DelaPaz, Theodore DeFoe, Mikeal Archambault, Vincent
Brown, Bryan Archambault, Gerald St. John, Travis Brown, Petey Jones, Jeff
Brown, Bijah Brown, Jason Brown and Joe LeBlanc.
