Carol Ann Thompson Wright, 57, of Bagley, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at Sanford
Health Systems in Fargo, N.D.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, at Faith Hill Assembly
of God, Bagley. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. today, Jan. 12, with a prayer
service at 7 p.m. at the Rice Lake Area Fellowship Church, Rice Lake, Minn.
She was born Aug. 9, 1953, to Lester and Marceline (Goodwin) Thompson in
Bagley. She grew up in Bagley and graduated with the class of 1971. Following
graduation, she attended college in Albuquerque, N.M., and later received her
LPN degree from Bemidji Tech. She moved back to the Bagley area and began
working at the North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji as a nurse. While
working at the hospital, she met Terry Wright. They were married and had one
daughter, Misty. The couple also adopted Tia and Sophia in 1999 as their
daughters. Terry died in 1991 and she continued working as a nurse. She also
worked as a matron for Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office for many years. In the
early 1990s, she worked as a security guard at the Shooting Star Casino, where
she met Randy Scott. The two married, but would later divorce. Her passion for
being a caregiver took her back to the health care field. She was currently working
at the Jourdain/Perpich Extended Care Center in Red Lake. Over the years, she
took in many foster children. She was also a jokester and prankster with quite the
sense of humor. She also enjoyed reading, music, watching Survivor and Big
Brother spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, when time
allowed. Her Christianity was a very important part of her daily life.
She is survived by her daughters, Tia and Sophia Wright, both of Bagley; five
grandchildren; brother, Calvin (Charlene) Thompson, Bagley; sisters, Gloria (Jim)
LaFriniere, Bagley and Jenny Swenson, Brainerd, Minn.; nieces, several aunts,
uncles, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry; daughter, Misty, in 1994;
parents and grandparents, Carrie and John Thompson and Tom and Bessie
Goodwin; and stepfather, Chuck Halvorson.
