Emma Lucille “Angie” Rainey, 85, of Red Lake, formerly of Minneapolis, died
Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at Jourdain-Perpich Extended Care Center in Red Lake.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at St. Mary’s Mission Catholic
Church in Red Lake with the Rev. Jerry Rogers officiating. A wake will begin at
noon Sunday, Feb. 6, at Red Lake Community Center in Red Lake and will
continue until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s
Mission Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake under the direction of the Cease Family
Funeral Home of Bemidji.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Garcia, Myron “Jr.” Rainey, Charles Barrett, Robin
Hanson Troy Thompson, Earl Rainey and Joseph Dunkley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Josette Rainey, Jonelle Rainey, Debbie Barrett,
Kenneth “Boy” Rainey Jr., Steve Rainey, Travis Thompson, Deb Roberts, Denise
Rainey, Janet Pendleton, Rona Rainey, Jean Sonnenberg, Carol Schoenborn and
Winona Polar.

She born Feb. 6, 1925, to Joe and Josephine (Greely) Barrett in Red Lake. She
was raised and educated in Red Lake. She married Kenneth Rainey on June 5,
1945, in Red Lake. They moved to Minneapolis in the early 1970s. She worked as
a custodian for the Indian Center for several years. She moved back to Red Lake
a year ago. She liked to go to the casino and play Bingo. She enjoyed cooking
and loved to take care of her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by six daughters, Doreen (Mario) Perez, Judy Barrett, Janet
Pendleton, Debra Roberts, Elaine Rainey and Jean (Bruce) Sonneberg; four sons,
Sam (Cindy) Rainey, Kenneth Rainey Jr., Myron Rainey and Joe (Shirley) Rainey;
numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and
brother, Charles Barrett

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988; her parents; two sons, Stuart
Rainey and Harold Rainey; two daughters, Mary Diane Polar and Josephine
“Bubbles” Rainey; two sisters, Mary Mead and Rose Porter; a brother, Myron
“Slim” Barrett Sr.; five grandsons; two great grandchildren; and a great great
granddaughter.
