Gordon “Gabby” Kirt Headbird, “Mizihkii-bines,” which means Head Thunderbird,
63, of Cass Lake, died on Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at the Cass Lake Hospital.

Services will be a Gathering at 6 p.m. on Wednesday Jan 19, A Wake begins at 6
p.m. on Wednesday .

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, at the Veteran’s
Memorial Building, Cass Lake. Lee Staples will be the Spiritual Leader.

Pallbearers: Leonard Headbird, Donnie Headbird, Melvin Goodman, Randy Finn,
Tom Dudley and Richard “Ole” Brown.

Honorary Pallbearers: all of his friends and family from the Leech Lake Housing
Authority.

He was born Aug. 20, 1947, to Leonard Headbird Sr. and Katherine Bell court in
Cass Lake.

He loved his job and the people he worked with at the Leech Lake Housing
Authority. He built a log home with his wife on the land he was raised on and lived
there all his life. In his free time he enjoyed attending stock car races, Cass Lake-
Bena High School Basketball Games, powwows, camping, hunting and traditional
gatherings. He loved to spend time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathy; brother, Charles Headbird
and one grandchild.

He is survived by his sons and daughter, Gordon (Tuleah) Fineday of Cass Lake,
Robert Fineday of Cass Lake, Gloria (Terrence) Headbird of Bena. Ken
Thompson of Ft. Totten, N.D., Donavin Fineday of Cass Lake; daughters, Delina
(Gerald) White of Inger, Sheryl (Gary) Keezer of Cass Lake, Marilyn (Victor) Wind
of Cass Lake, Diane Fineday of Cass Lake, Dawn Fineday of Cass Lake, Diane
Koutsky of Wilkenson; brothers, Leonard (Andrea) Headbird of Cass Lake,
Donald (Nikki) Headbird of Cass Lake, Melvin (Shelly) Goodman of Pennington
and Randy Finn of Cass Lake; sister, Gloria (Dean) Wind of Cass Lake, 26
grandchildren;16 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; Barb Fineday
and many close friends.
