Janelle Nicole Oakgrove (Migizi Wi Gano) Eagle Soaring, Age 39, of
Minneapolis, MN died Friday January 7, 2011 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul,
MN.
Funeral services were held Friday January 14, 2011 10 a.m. at The Church of
Gichitwa Kateri 3045 Park Avenue South in Minneapolis with Spiritual Leader Lee
Staples. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Minneapolis under the direction of
Thomson-Dougherty Funeral Home.
She was born November 16, 1971 in Minneapolis, MN, the daughter of Sandra
(English) McKee and the late Harlan “Butch” Oakgrove. She was raised and lived
her entire life in Minneapolis, MN. She attended schools in Minneapolis and
received her GED continuing her education at Lakeland Medical Academy and
receiving her diploma as a Medical Secretary. She worked for several medical
offices in Minneapolis before her health started to decline. She loved spending
her time with her family and devoted her life to her children. She married Thomas
Friend and they had two children together. They later divorced.
She is survived by her mother Sandra McKee and stepfather Norman McKee of
North Branch, MN, Sisters Jeanna (Vernon) Pierce of Fairton, NJ and Jillian
Oakgrove of Minneapolis. Her children Joshua Oakgrove, Jocelyn Oakgrove,
special daughter Jacinda Oakgrove, and Special Companion Kevin Olberding all
of Minneapolis, MN.
She was preceded in death by father Harlan “Butch” Oakgrove, brother Robert
McKee, Maternal grandfather Herman David English as well as great
grandparents George and Lizzie English and Charlie and Jane Lussier of Red
Lake.
Active casket bearers were her brother in law Vernon Pierce, cousin John
Oakgrove, Thomas Friend, Kevin Olberding and the Kanoe Brother’s Pat, Johnny
and Mark.
Honorary Casket bearers were all friends and family.
