Lisa “Leet” Marie Smith, 31, of Redby, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Redby Community
Center in Redby, with the Rev. Josephine Smith officiating. A wake will begin at
the Redby Community Center Friday and will continue until the time of the services
Saturday. Burial will be in the Fox Point Cemetery in Redby under the direction of
the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
Pallbearers will be Michael Smith Sr., Ernest Ortley Sr., John Lattergrass, Amos
Weise, Michael Smith III, Jared Smith, Doug White, Billy Smith, Jeremy Auginash
and Rawlin White.
Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Johnson, Amber Auginash, Sally Smith,
Kylene White, Georgette “Maxine” White, Kileen Weise, Summer Weise,
Shalonda Clark, Mike King, Jessica King, John and Marlene Smith.
She was born May 25, 1979, to Lori Osterloh and Michael Smith Sr. in
Minneapolis. She was raised and educated in Minneapolis and graduated from
Heart of the Earth School in 1997. She played volleyball and basketball. She
enjoyed working at the Marriot Hotel in Minneapolis with her cousin, and her best
friend, Amber Auginash, and at Cub Foods with her sisters. She then moved to
Redby where she lived until she died. Her favorites things were Newport 100’s,
Jack’s pepperoni pizza, writing to her brother and cousin Robert “Rob,” traveling
along the powwow trail, relaxing in casino hotel rooms, talking with friends, being
around family and spoiling her nephews.
She is survived by her parents; two nephews; sisters, Leslie (Ernest) Smith of
Bagley, Lynette (John) Osterloh of Redby, Isabelle Smith of Minneapolis, Sally
Smith of Ponemah, Kylene (Vinnie) White of Ponemah, Nicole, Shannon and
Candace Anderson, all of the Twin Cities; brothers, Miran (Elizabeth) Smith of
Redby, Mitchell Osterloh of Bayport, Minn., Michael Smith III of Ponemah, Doug
(Christie) White of Red Lake, Mark Anderson of the Twin Cities; nieces; nephews;
cousins; an aunt; and uncles.
She was preceded in death by two nieces; and two nephews; brother, Michael
Smith Jr.; and an uncle.
