Louise Evelyn (Porter) Shelley, 67, of Rock Hills, S.C., formerly of Cass Lake, died
Tuesday, March 22, 2011, in Charlotte, N.C.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
She was born on April 18, 1943, to Florence Porter and Frank Lambert. She was
adopted by Arther and Alta Porter, and raised in Grand Marais, Minn. She
graduated from high school in Minneapolis. She worked as a computer
programmer, and also at the Boys and Girls Club in Cass Lake. She was always
on the go. She loved powwows, sewing, games, loved to laugh, and joke around.
She had a very caring heart, and was a foster parent to many children.
She is survived by a son, Michael (Saratha) Shelley of South Carolina; daughters,
Noami, Ashley, Dana, Cordelia, Kelly and Mary; brothers, George (Lois) Lambert,
Larry Porter and Jack Porter; sisters, Nancy Troy, Genevieve “Joyce Critt”
Poblano and Kristina Triveno; spiritual sisters, Andi Headbird and Tuleah Palmer;
five grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many foster children.
She was preceded in death by both her natural parents and her adopted parents.
