Merlin Franklin Lyons, 64, of Cass Lake, died Thursday, April 21, 2011, at The
Lodge hospice facility in Elko, Minn.

A traditional funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 25, at the Cass Lake
Facility Center. A wake will begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, at the Cass
Lake Facility Center and continue until the time of the service. Burial will be in the
Morgan Cemetery in Cass Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral
Home of Bemidji.

Active pallbearers will be Dicky Littlewolf, Mike Reyes, Greg Escobedo, Mike
Escobedo, Mike Brown Sr., Mike Brown Jr., Travis Baker and Jim Tuttle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Jacobs, Phillip Taylor, Vince Laurie, Harry
Morris, Sheldon Littlewolf, Aiyana Bigbear, Carol Martinez and Elias Bigbear.

He was born on July 30, 1942, to Joseph and Mary (Blair) Lyons in Deer River,
Minn. He was raised and educated in Inger, Minn. He worked for 25 years as a
sandblaster for a painting company. He married Veronica (Goose) Lyons and she
died before him. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed
traveling and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by sons,Dennis (Jolaine Bigbear) Littlewolf of Benedict, Minn,
Travis Baker of Bemidji, Bobby Budreau of Bemidji and Mike (Cheryl Tiessen)
Escobedo of Walker; daughters, Cindy Escobedo of Rapid City, S.D., Angela
Reyes of Cass Lake, Patty Escobedo of Walker, Christine Reyes Titus of
Georgia, Cathy (Chao Vang) Reyes of Walker, Ramona Goose of Walker, Barb
Littlewolf of Benedict, Minn. and Brenda Pence of Cass Lake; and numerous
grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; daughter, Andrea; a grandson;
and all of his brothers and sisters.
