Perry Lee Newby, 59, of Bemidji, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2011, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at the
Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, with Mike Naylor officiating. Family will
greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial of cremated
remains will be in the spring in Turtle Lake Township Cemetery, Beltrami County.

Honorary pallbearers will be, brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews and
special grandchildren, Connor and Alexis.

He was born June 29, 1951, to Delbert and Mary (Workman) Newby in Bemidji.
He grew up in Puposky and graduated in 1969 from Bemidji High School. He
served in the National Guard. He married Carol Doyle June 5, 1971, in Bemidji.
They lived in Puposky. He worked for Nordheim Roofing, Shelquist Masonry, Red
Lake Builders, logging with his father and others and did some trapping. From
1981-1986 he worked in Alaska as a self-employed carpenter with his brothers.
He worked for Christianson Construction of Bemidji. He loved working in the
garden and yard, hunting, fishing and trapping.

He is survived by his wife of Bemidji; daughters, Michelle (Ron) Huderle of Bemidji
and Emily (Mike) Newby of Bemidji; son, Brandon (Krea) Newby of Nevis; two
grandchildren; parents; sisters, Linda (Chuck) Borchard of Shakopee, Minn., and
Patty (Mike) Newby of Bemidji; brothers, Pete (Dianne) Newby of Bemidji and
Dave Newby of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Newby; sister, Connie Newby;
nephew, Scott Newby; and a daughter-in-law,.
