Shirley Jean Whitebird, 47, of Minneapolis, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at her
home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 18 at the Veteran’s
Memorial Building in Cass Lake. A wake will begin at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday,
March 16, and continue until the time of service. Burial will be in the Prince of
Peace Cemetery in Cass Lake later this spring.

Pallbearers will be Eugene “Ribs” Whitebird, LeRoy “Puff” Whitebird, Stanley
Spottedcalf/Whitebird, Dean Brown, Kyle Whitebird, Corey Wuori, Ed Dalton, and
John “Painter” Fisherman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sandy Jones, Bonnie Earth, Heather Dalton, Faith
Littlewolf, Nancy Whitebird, Connie Littlewolf and Becky Littlewolf.

She was born August 5, 1963 in Bemidji to LeRoy, Sr. and Elizabeth (Littlewolf)
Whitebird. She lived in Minneapolis for the past 30 years and helped out cooking
at the homeless shelters.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Corey) Whitebird and Stanley Spottedcalf;
her companion, Dean Brown; mother, Elizabeth Whitebird; sisters, Beverly (Ed)
Dalton and Arlene Whitebird; brothers, LeRoy (Leota) Whitebird and Eugene
“Ribs” (Kathy) Whitebird; three grandsons; a granddaughter; several aunts, uncles,
cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; brothers, Darwin, David and William
Whitebird; sister, Betty Whitebird; her grandparents; and special friend Stanley
Spottedcalf, II.
