Simone Lee Hanks, 43, of Cass Lake, died at her home on Monday, Jan. 17,
2011.

A wake service will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Facility Center
Gym in Cass Lake, with Ojibwe Singers. An additional wake service will begin at 4
p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21, at the Onigum Community Center in Onigum and continue
until her service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Onigum Community
Center. Rev. Harold Eaglebull will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Butcher, Anthony Butcher, Shaun Butcher, Luiz DeLa
Rosa, Robert Barrett, Darryl Barrett and Kyle Butcher.

Honorary Pallbearers are Christina Sayers, Miranda Butcher, BeeJay Smith,
Taleeya Lausche, David Mitchell, Maxine Manypenny, Nigel Butcher, Ryan Barrett,
Reggie Barrett, Rickey Barrett, Reginald Garbow, Sarah Whitebird, Corey Butcher
and Roger Butcher. Burial will be in St. John's Episcopal Cemetery in Old Agency
immediately following the service.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1967, to James Gale and Arlene (Monroe) Hanks in St.
Paul, Minn. She grew up in Minneapolis and lived there most of her life. She
moved to Cass Lake in 2009. Her lifetime occupation was caregiver to all
concerned. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and especially enjoyed
children. She also enjoyed going to powwows, watching movies, playing chess,
traveling, working puzzles and playing at the casino.

She is survived by her nephews; uncles; aunts and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one special daughter, Jessica;
brothers, Duane Hanks, Darold Hanks, and Patrick Hanks.
