William G. “Shotgun” Parker Sr., 83, of Montrose, Minn., died Thursday, March 10,
2011, in Buffalo, Minn. surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, at
the Onamia Vet’s Club.
He was born on June 29, 1927, to William and Emma (Hart) Parker of Red Lake.
He was a member of The Red Lake Band of Ojibwe.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. After being honorably discharged in
1947, he resided in Michigan City, Ind. where he married Jean Brown Monchamp
on December 12, 1959.
In 1967, they moved to Onamia, Minn. where he worked at the Onamia
Lumberyard for 18 years. After retiring, they moved to Buffalo and recently to
Montrose.
He was a life time member of VFW#955 and also belonged to American Legion
Post #395.
He is survived by his loving wife; children, Bill Jr. of Montrose, Doug (Bonny) of
Onamia, Peggy Monchamp of Osakis, Minn. and Earl (Diane) Monchamp of
Plymouth; a sister, Marion Parker of Stillwater, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-
grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and a brother.
