Archie “Gary” Graves, age 60, of Redby, Minn. died Monday, January 18, 2010, at his home.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 21, at the Redby Community Center, Redby, with the Rev. George Ross officiating. A wake will begin 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 20, at the Redby Community Center and continue until the time of the service. Interment will be in the family burial ground. Arrangements were entrusted to the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, Bemidji, Minn.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Red Lake Sanitation Department, Jimmie O. Oakgrove, Oliver Beaulieu, Roger White Jr., Gary Sargent, Gordon Jallen, Adrian Lussier Sr., Henry Donnell Sr., Rusty Donnell, Donald “Dudie” May, Dan Siegler, Kevin Sigana and Roger Strong.
Casketbearers will be Rawn Graves, Brandon Mountain, Adrian Lussier Jr., Charlie Kelly Jr., Royce Graves III, Joe Beaulieu, Ryan Lussier and Scott Graves.
Archie Gary Graves was born November 6, 1949, in Red Lake, Minn. to Royce and Bernadine (Sargent) Graves. He attended school at Red Lake and graduated in 1967, from Red Lake High School. He attended Haskell Indian College in Lawrence, Kan. and also Bemidji State University. On May 22, 1980, he married Victoria Irons in Redby. He worked in Minneapolis and was a commercial fisherman with his dad and brothers in Red Lake. He was a police officer for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, prosecutor for the Red Lake Tribal Courts and Director of Red Lake Sanitation Department until the time of his death. He coached baseball, basketball, football, was an avid sports fan, loved gardening and his yard. Gary was a great sports fan all of his life, and encouraged his children to actively participate in sports so he could be on the sidelines coaching and cheering them on.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria Graves of Redby; three daughters, Elizabeth (Oliver) Graves of Red Lake, Tara (Roger) White of Redby and Serena Graves of Redby; two sons, Byron (Bobbi) Graves of Redby and Matthew (Dawn) Graves of Redby; special son, Rawn Graves of Red Lake; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild; two brothers, Royce (Diana) Graves Jr. of Red Lake and Joseph (Jill) Graves of Red Lake; two sisters, Eloise (Gordon) Jallen of Pinewood and Darlene (Adrian) Lussier Sr. of Red Lake.
He was preceded in death by his father, Royce Graves Sr.; mother, Bernadine Graves; two brothers, Preston Graves and Rusty Smith and a sister, Janet Graves.

Henry Lewis Reed
Henry Lewis Reed, 75, of Cass Lake, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010.
The service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Onigum. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Oak Point Community Center, Cass Lake, and continue until the time of the service.
Arrangements are with Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker.
Pallbearers will be Willard Reed, Frank Beaulieu, Roberto Gomez, James Howard, Harold Fier and John Elmberg.
He was born Oct. 26, 1934, to Andrew and Kathryn (Weaver) Reed in Onigum. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, going to powwows, building things, landscaping, working on cars, watching sports with the Vikings and the Twins being his favorites, and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Rose (Dick) Reed; sons Willard Reed (Tammi Adams) of Redwood Falls, Minn., Henry Chapman Reed of St. Paul and stepson John Dick of California; stepdaughter, Sharon Ramirz of San Antonio, Texas; sisters Frances Elmberg of Onigum and Shirley Lindley of Crystal, Minn.; 29 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters, a son, two daughters and a grandson.
